A LETTER FROM 2030
JUNE 5, 2030.
TO:
THE LITTLE ME,
IN
2020.
DEAR
Nikitha,
Hey Niki! How are you? Or should I ask how am I? You’re awaiting until oceans dry to see that the fluttering future is optimistic. Well, I remember myself being all hunky-dory and bored of boredom at my vacation or maybe I must call that spine-chilling quarantine. Yeah, I also do remember the pandemic of the spooky Corona virus, which hit this furor world in 2020. This led many good souls to turn towards caring for nature. Well, you may be thinking why I’m posting this to you from 2030. But you must know how the future is, so that you (I mean, I myself) may make up my mind to face the freaking future.
Well, after 10 years this day, I’m a leading research scientist in the medical field. I know you must be glad, enthusiastic and having a feeling of a glass brimming with pride of achievement of our dream. I’m part of the Oxford research unit. I know that you will be at edge of your seat while reading this and that you will be thinking of time travel. Fine, let me jump into the real reason for me to write you this.
The
world in 2030 is the upside down of what you have imagined. Don’t freak out, it
is not a literal upside down. I know I’m provoking and persuading you to read
more. You would have probably imagined millions of people carrying O2 and H2O
cans on their backs and running with this fast and furious congested world.
I
still live in India and it is one of the most developed countries in the world.
Do you know there are electric mini car planes trundling their way past the
roads? I know you would probably be thinking that I have gone crazy, but it’s
true. All lifeless multi-storey buildings are standing in solitude as tall as the
Burj Khalifa. There are no schools or universities. Wait, don’t think you can
just bunk schooling. There are mandatory E-schools for all. It is all e-books.
Also robots become essential for day to day life. Shelter, food, air, water,
Robots and a stronger Wi-Fi are the future essential needs for a man to
survive.
The
roads are deserted and mostly all transportation happens through air. Yeah, in the
future we have time travel postal service available, which enabled me to send
this from 2030 to myself in 2020.
It’s
green, green and green as far the eye could see. Our world is completely free
of deterioration. We have also achieved high technological development in the astronomical
world. We also found a way for the astronauts to survive in a vacuum in space
for years. Hey, hang on Nikitha don’t change your ambition and your former
interest of being an astronaut.
But
do you know what the tragedy is? The world’s population is one third of what it
was before. The tiny death triggering virus has wiped off half of the world’s
population like you say how Thanos did in the Marvel movies. The spooky tiny
virus took his place and we researchers quarrelled with it like the Avengers.
We finally found a cure in 2022. Many lost their loved ones due to
carelessness. We all felt our lives fading in. We felt desperate, hoping for a
helping hand. And most cruelly, there wasn’t enough crust to bury the ripped
ones.
I
remember those days when, though there was a much healthier environment to
breathe in, we all still had our masks on! I remember my agitation of spending
my whole life with a semi-covered face. I felt like a perpetrator. As the days
and years moved on, I left my fears to God.
As an irony in human efforts, there was better administration which gradually led
to a healthy environment in all aspects.
At
last I would say, the future is still glittering with all forms of lives.
Though I post you from the future, it doesn’t mean that the future can’t be
altered. Yes, the future is in your generation’s hands. We the future guys are
ready to secure and follow what you do to this world. Every human must become
responsible, making mankind the best creation on the crust.
Thank
you.
Yours love,
Nikitha.
